Feb1: Self Portrait

A good self portrait. Towards the end of this drawing I thought “ why do I do these self portraits? What’s the significance?” And then I thought, almost involuntarily “to celebrate my blackness why of course. How many famous artworks are portraits of black people? Of proud black boys? We’re fixing that”

I ponder furiously on the idea of sharing this blog with my Instagram followers . Have I built up enough “don’t-give-a-fuck-icity” to do so without becoming swayed by more eyes?

On that note if you’ve read this far you are what I consider a “organic” listener or observer just cause I don’t like the idea of having “followers” cause it implies being a leader and fuck that.

To you organic listeners that found me via the algorithm I thank you for your gentle acts of support and encouragement in the form of likes, comments and subscribing. You all mean a very great deal to me and this “community” is helping me a great deal to discover, express, and understand myself. So yeah, thank you for being you.
