“The Boy Who Didn’t Deserve to be Happy”

There once was a boy who didn’t deserve to be happy
Joy and glee aren’t allowed, for they are too sappy.
He walks out in the rain, so the world can see his pain
Eternally being sad is how he keeps sane.

Wandering around, trudging with gloominess and woe
He thinks “today is the worst day since one day ago”

After an afternoon being miserable, he goes home again
To spend the evening being uncomfortable in his own skin
Guilt and despair fill his thoughts, frying his nerves
Constantly reminding himself it’s just what he deserves.

He finally falls asleep, caught in the endless loop of his mind
Cursed to live life with a brain that is particularly unkind.
